Danielson Framework:

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

4a. Reflecting on Teaching

An important habit I have prioritized in my teaching practice is the reflection process post instruction.  It is vital to me, and to the benefits of my students, that I consistently reflect with accuracy and specificity, so I can improve and refine my skills not only for my benefit, but also for my students.  Presented on the left is a mid semester reflection I gave to my students during my clinical internship.  It was vital that I not only received feedback from supervisors and mentors, but also received feedback from my students.  This provided me with feedback I was able to apply to the remainder of my student teaching.  Presented on the right is a reflection of my teaching philosophy after my clinical internship.  After my extensive experience teaching high school students, I was able to reflect and articulate my goals with more specificity.

4b. Maintaining Accurate Records

While student teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was imperative that students who were attending in person class were filling out and submitting a Covid-19 Daily Screening form.  In addition to keeping records of this, I also had to check their temperatures prior to them entering the building.  Presented are records of assignment submissions from student teaching.  Through Google Classroom, I was able to maintain accurate records of the completion of student assignments, in addition to the grades and feedback I provided them.

4c. Communicating with Families

As a fun way to introduce myself to the students and families at my clinical internship site, I created an Introduction video sharing my background, interests, hobbies, and excitement in working at Cranford High School.

4d. Participating in the Professional Community

During my full-time clinical internship I choreographed works for the winter and spring dance concerts.  In preparing for these concerts, I volunteered teaching after school rehearsals during and after the completion of my clinical internship.  Playing on the left is a rehearsal clip from an after school rehearsal at my clinical internship site in March 2021.

4e. Growing and Developing Professionally

I am fortunate for my opportunities of engagement and involvement in the professional dance and dance education community.  Presented are pictures from my experiences in dance programs at Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy, B12 in Berlin, Germany, the International Creative Dance Seminar in Beijing, China, and the Rutgers EdM 10 year anniversary celebration.  All of these different cultural experiences enhanced my understanding of dance and dance education, ultimately informing the content I teach and my delivery of content to my students.

4f. Showing Professionalism

edm-cohort-kinetic-connections_edited.jp

Throughout spring 2021, my cohort and I have created dance units promoting social justice through non-western dance styles.  On May 19, 2021, my cohort and I will be presenting these dance units to dance educators across New Jersey at Dance New Jersey's Connection Call via Zoom.  As an active member in my profession, I aim to extend my resources and knowledge to others in my profession for the overall benefit of the students.
