ABOUT

Rebecca Pavelko is a professional dancer and dance educator.  She is a graduate from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey with an Ed.M. in Dance Education from the Graduate School of Education and a B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts.  She is currently a dance educator in Union City Public Schools.  At Union City, Rebecca has created a dance elective course, founded an after school dance company (recommendation only), and choreographed and prepared students for winter, spring, and district performances.​  Rebecca is also a dance educator at the BHS Young Dancer Program in Bayonne, NJ, teaching Creative Movement, Ballet, Modern, and Jazz to ages 2-18.  She is on faculty at Washington Rock Dance in Warren, NJ where she teaches modern, ballet, hip hop, and yoga.  Rebecca is a 200-Hour Registered Vinyasa Yoga Teacher through the Om Factory in New York City under the mentorship of Taryn Vander Hoop and Blair Ritchie.

Rebecca is a professional dancer for Rock Dance Collective, Newbrese Dance, and Taluba Dance.  She has also performed works for O'Campo Wang Dance, Kiana Rosa Fischer, Vim Vigor, Yin Yue, Alexandra Beller, Randy James, Kelli McGovern, and Ani Javian throughout the NYC, NJ, and the Philadelphia area.   

 

Rebecca has also studied dance abroad, attending Dance Italia and Accademia delll’Arte in Tuscany, Italy and B12 in Berlin, Germany.  She also performed at the International Creative Dance Seminar in Beijing, China with Chien-Ying Wang and Paul Ocampo.  Infusing her two passions, dance and traveling, Rebecca has learned about many cultures through dance and enjoys integrating these concepts into her lessons.  Whether it be from teaching her students or traveling, Rebecca enjoys learning about a variety of cultures through dance.

Rebecca has been recognized and honored for her dedication to dance and dance education through her induction into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts and acceptance of the Mastrobuono EdM Dance Education Excellence Award Scholarship.

 

Rebecca is from Bayonne, NJ, where she received her foundational training from Bayonne High School and Washington Rock Dance under the supportive mentorship of Kelli McGovern, Cleo Mack, and Blair Ritchie.  When Rebecca is not dancing, she enjoys photographing her adventures in familiar and unfamiliar places with friends and family.
